Clubs

The purpose of Northstar's After School Clubs program is to provide students with an opportunity to explore an area of interest while providing a safe and structured activity after school. Student expectations during our After School Clubs are very simple. We are asking students to be kind, helpful, and active members of their club each day that it meets.

Information and sign ups for Quarter 2 Clubs will be sent at 3 pm on November 11 via Skyward Messenger.

2025-26 Quarter 2 Clubs

Our Quarter 2 After School Clubs will be held from 3:00-4:30 pm between Monday, December 1 and Friday, January 16. The exact days that the club will meet each week are outlined below.

A confirmation email will be sent on Thursday, November 20 to all families who have signed their student up for a club. Please direct any questions regarding this program to Justin Jablonske, Northstar Assistant Principal, at jjablonske@ecasd.us or 715-852-5111.

Board Game Club
Meets Tuesdays with Ms. Mary Rettke (mrettke@ecasd.us)
This is the famous club that started at Northstar over 10 years ago. We are a club that meets every Tuesday. Come and play one of Northstar’s plethora of games; New and old, cooperative and competitive, dice rolling and card playing. All games and supplies will be provided. Bring your friends, come to have fun, and never be bored at Boardgame Club.

D&D Club
Meets Thursdays with Ms. Mary Rettke (mrettke@ecasd.us) and Ms. Amanda Keiser (akeiser1@ecasd.us)
Each quarter we will create characters and form new groups. If you have played previously -- GREAT. If you have never played D&D before -- NO WORRIES. We will get you dice and teach you everything you need. On average we have four Dungeon Groups running various campaigns. Have fun discovering new worlds, defending different races, and standing up to monsters.

Equity Club + SAFE
Meets Tuesdays with Ms. Jenni Berg (jberg@ecasd.us)
Build leadership skills, learn about other cultures and communities, foster a sense of belonging for ALL students and promote healthy choices at Northstar through hands-on projects, crafts, guest speakers, trying new foods, and engaging in student discussions. Equity Club + SAFE is a place where EVERYONE belongs.

Hmong Culture/Dance Club
Meets Mondays and Thursdays with Ms. Michelle Olson (molson5@ecasd.us) and Ms. Annie Moua (amoua@ecasd.us)
Hmong/Culture Dance Club combines learning about culture with language, cooking, crafts, and learning dances. Those who want to perform, we will have opportunities to perform for Hmong Heritage Month and the Variety Show or others. This will be student driven and the choreography will be created by our students and former students who will mentor as needed.

Battle of the Books
Meets Mondays with Ms. Jenny Krenzelok (jkrenzelok1@ecasd.us)
Do you love to read? This is the club for you! Come join our team as we read the 20 WEMTA Battle Books this year. Challenge yourself to read new genres. We will also spend time discussing and prepping to battle against other teams. Then on Northstar team will represent our school at the end of February at the state Battle Competition.

Study Club
Meets Mondays and Tuesdays with Ms. Lindsey Alger (lalger@ecasd.us
Need a space and time to organize your backpack, get ahead of assignments, and feel prepared for the week? Study Club is the spot for you. We will look over your weekly tasks, organize your assignments, and create a system that works for you. We will also have quiet time to complete homework either independently or guided.

Golf Club
Meets Tuesdays with Mr. Don Tichey (dtichey@ecasd.us)
Students will have the opportunity to either explore golf for the first time or enhance their skills by receiving tips from a former golf instructor and high school coach. We will have opportunities to putt and take full swings in a simulator.

Art Club
Meets Mondays with Ms. Susan Steffen (ssteffen1@ecasd.us)
Do you like Art but don't have a place or space to create art? This art club will be a place and space to create ideas from your own imagination. All activities will be determined by students, and materials will be provided. We will also work to promote Art in our school and community.

Visioneer Design Challenge
Meets Thursdays with Ms. Susan Steffen (ssteffen1@ecasd.us)
Are you interested in designing things? The Visioneer Design Challenge is a statewide learning program and competition for middle school students interested in design arts. Students work as a team or individuals on a long-term design challenge that has been developed by professional designers. Students work on a long-term design challenge to be presented to a panel of professionals at the Peck School of Arts and Design at UW-Milwaukee in April.
